The Multatuli Society is an association founded in 1945. Its objective is to spread and deepen knowledge about Multatuli and to stress his continuous topicality.

Poster about the Multatuli celebration 1820-1920 and a globeThat is also the main purpose of the Multatuli Museum, but the society's range of activities is broader. Twice a year gatherings are organized (an annual meeting on Multatuli's birthday in March, and an autumn meeting), where renowned speakers give their opinion or views on Multatuli and his works. Featured speakers in recent years have been Drs P., Cees Fasseur, Maarten 't Hart, Rudy Kousbroek, Nelleke Noordervliet and Henk Vonhoff.

In addition, the society helps to organize Multatuli lectures and discussions, initiates and supports publications, and sponsors the review Over Multatuli (= On Multatuli), which appears twice a year.

The Multatuli Society is an active association of which you can become a member. Membership is € 25,00 annually. In exchange you will receive the review Over Multatuli, the Multatuli Newsletter and an invitation to the meetings.
